When I was a midwife in Scotland there was a rumor the National Health Service wouldn't have enough money for prenatal care. Instead the obstetrician stamped the newly pregnant mother with a message that was too small to read. Nine months later, when her belly expanded she could look in the mirror and see the words "Your time has come. Hurry to the hospital NOW!"
