The Art of Pasta
Culinary Insiders' Celebrity Chef Series presents, "Lidia Bastianich - The Art of Pasta." Diners will spend an evening with the acclaimed chef, beginning with a reception of Bastianich wines with a sampling of Italian delicacies. A multi-course meal of Bastianich's favorite pasta dishes will follow, including a dish she served to the Pope during his visit in 2008. The event will take place at Felidia (243 East 58th Street) and has two dates, Monday, March 9th and Tuesday, March 10th, both from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets: $85/Culinary Insiders' members, $100/non-members.

Winter Deals

The Caseus Report
The Caseus Awards are held every two years in France. The prestigious awards honor cheesemongers and traditional gourmet products. To recap the events of this year's awards, Murray's Cheese (254 Bleecker Street) is holding a class, "The Caseus Report." The class is a rare opportunity to relive the competition and to sample these rare cheeses. The Caseus Report will take place on Friday, March 6th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tickets: $50/person.

Artisanal Bread Baking
The French Culinary Institute’s International Culinary Center (462 Broadway) is offering several amateur bread baking courses. The first, "Artisanal Bread Baking," will teach a variety of techniques for an assortment of finished tastes and textures. Learn to make baguettes, focaccia, challah, pizza dough, and more. The class will take place on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. starting March 7th and concluding on April 4th. Tuition: $1,350/person.

Taste Napa Valley: New York
The Napa Valley Vintners are coming to New York and New Jersey for four days of consumer and trade events. Several Napa wine tasting and benefit dinners will be offered at prestigious restaurants and establishments including Morrell & Company, Tribeca Grill, and Artisanal Premium Cheese. DLS Cocktail and Tasting
Time Out New York presents an exclusive speakeasy-style Dining and Libation Society tasting with Gabriella Gershenson, Johnny Iuzzini, Dave Arnold and Chef George Mendes. Enjoy innovative cocktails and a sneak peak of tapas from George Mendes' upcoming restaurant, Aldea. In true speakeasy style, the event will take place on Tuesday, March 10th from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at a secret location that will be revealed to guests a few days prior to the event. Tickets: $50/person.

A Chat with the Zagats
The 92nd Street Y (Lexington Avenue and 92nd Street) are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first Zagat guide book with, "A Chat with the Zagats." Join Tim and Nina Zagat for a revealing discussion on their thriving, revolutionary and worldwide business of “where to eat, drink, stay and play.” The event will take place on Tuesday, March 10th at 8:15 p.m. Tickets: $27/person.

Sweets for Dinner
Dessert lovers rejoice! Blue Hill is offering two "Sweets for Dinner" events In the City (Blue Hill, 75 Washington Place) and In the Country (Blue Hill at Stone Barns, 630 Bedford Road, Pocantico Hills). The event will consist of a 5-course dessert and beverage pairing created by Pastry Chefs Alex Grunert, Joel de la Cruz, and Kristine Egan. "In the City" will take place on Tuesday, March 10th at 8:00 p.m. (Reservations: 212.539.1776) and "In the Country" will take place on Wednesday, March 11th at 7:30 p.m. (Reservations: 914.366.9600). $75/person.


Streets International
Do you have a love affair with the corner lunch cart? Join seven top NYC chefs for the "New York Chef’s Rally to Support 'STREETS INTERNATIONAL.'” The tasting event will focus on cart-friendly street fair from around the world. Proceeds benefit STREETS, a non-profit organization that helps disadvantaged youth in Southeast Asia transform from street kids into culinary professionals with certified training. The event will take place at Astor Center (399 Lafayette Street) on Wednesday, March 11th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets: $150/person.
