Bene magazine will present a day of Italocentric shopping and dining on Saturday, May 19. Seven Italian restaurants -- including Otto, Maremma, and San Domenico, among others -- will serve special tasting menus hosted by the chefs and special guests. The price is $115/person, including an "Italian passport" to shopping discounts around town. Bene is offering an exclusive giveaway for TFS readers (full disclosure: I've written for the magazine): Five pairs of free tickets for the dinner at Maremma, featuring chef Cesare Casella and special guest Bill Buford, New Yorker writer and author of Heat.

On Wednesday, City Harvest will collect donations through its annual Skip Lunch Fight Hunger campaign where individuals are encouraged to donate what they would normally spend on lunch to help feed hungry New York City kids and their families; Georgeanne Brennan will discuss her book, A Pig in Provence, at the James Beard House; PUBLIC restaurant will host a Sake Tasting Dinner; and the Long Island Wine Council, Edible Brooklyn, and Edible East End will present Brooklyn Uncorked at Brooklyn's BAMCafe.

On Saturday, sample downtown restaurant fare at the annual Taste of Tribeca.

On Sunday, it's the Spring 2007 Conference, featuring a day's worth of dessert workshops.

On Tuesday, head to Brooklyn for ici restaurant's screening of the PBS program Endless Feast and a dinner recreating its menu, or Stone Park Cafe's Smoked Food Beer Pairing Dinner in collaboration with Sixpoint Craft Ales.
