Interesting that the presumably macho beer industry is a more hospitable environment for women. There's even a top brewers' competition, The Queen of Brews, that's been around for 14 years.

By the way the port-style wines in California are often made from the traditional Portuguese wine grapes like Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cão and Tinta Roriz. Some uniquely Californian styles are also made from Zinfandel and Petite Sirah
