I got to get myself one of those.
A Mixing Bowl Designed to Stay Put
All-Clad's new Mixing Bowl with Base is designed to stay put during bouts of extreme whisking. The round-bottomed stainless steel bowl attaches by suction at any angle to the silicone base (and can be used off the base as a double boiler).
While this certainly beats the old trick of putting a damp kitchen towel under your bowl to keep it in place, innovation doesn't come cheap. The bowl retails for $70 (3 quart size) and $90 (5 quart size) at Williams Sonoma.

I wonder if that base would work with other bowls. I have a ton of SS mixing bowls already and don't really need more. If only they sold just the base!
Ha why hasn't this been invented before? I'm a standard "no mixer" person, I feel that the extra work in whisking or stirring makes up in a better taste afterwards. I usually hold my bowl when doing this but that usually leads to something ending up on my clothes or the floor where I'm standing lol.
It's too bad they're so expensive...I'll put it on the Christmas list for sure :).
I am not sure if I would invest my money into this mixing bowl. I understand the concept of the bowl staying in one place but you could buy a kitchen aid if you want to keep your bowl more stable. I think a kitchen aid would be more useful for baking and cooking instead of this mixing bowl with a base concept.
This is a great idea because last time i cooked i spilled all the ingredients on the floor while i was trying to whisk. I like the concept but im not to sure if people would be willing to spend 70-90$ on it. What they should do is lower the price and much more people would be willing to buy it.
Its funny to watch the technology of cooking appliances because if there is one problem that people have whenever they are cooking, people will figure out a way to fix it and make some money off of it. This is a good idea though because i know in my few times ever cooking i have always had trouble with stirring the ingredients, but in the end this really is not needed
Interesting post and thanks for sharing. A few things in here I have not consider before. Thanks for creating such a great post which is perfectly written. KEEP Blogging!
