Gastromemes: The Cookie Splash
What's big on flickr? High-speed images of cookies splashing down into a cup of coffee, according to Bon Appetit.
As of this post, a flickr group has collected more than 300 cookie splash photos (and counting).
Photographer Siebe Warmoeskerken, the group's administrator -- and a leading cookie splasher -- offers the following tutorial on how to create the perfect cookie splash. Oddly enough, cookies don't even figure in the splashing:
1. take a cool cup to capture
2. fill it with coffee almost till the edge
3. focus the camera manual on the glass
4. be shure you've got a short exposure time (high iso makes that possible)
5. set the camera on burst mode (continuous shooting)
6. grab a tiny heavy object like a egg or something like that.
7. press the shutter and drop it!
