meat·mare
meat·mare (noun): A terrifying dream afflicting some vegetarians in which the dreamer experiences extreme feelings of anxiety about meat. Nightmares might involve horrifying visions of meat or the (troubling) experience of eating meat.
A member of the vegetarian online forum VeggieBoards recalled this gruesome meatmare involving butchers:
"The butchers up the road were holding a live slaughter day, and you
know how in the windows of a butchers, there's meat sloping down
towards the window??, well there was a live pig lying there on it's
side with it's head nearest the window, and the butcher was standing by
it's ass with a huge butchers knife, hacking pieces off it's ass as it
squeeled . It's kinda haunted me in a way."
Another member described a meatmare that involved gorging on bacon:
"I had one a few weeks ago. I was on like a hotel balcony just stuffing
bacon in my mouth. I could hear my concious mind telling me not to eat
it, that it was bad for me. I also remember my brother in the dream
yelling at me from below not to eat it. I made myself wake up and was
so happy it was only a dream."
For vegans, dairy can be the stuff of bad dreams too, as this member reported:
"I've never had a meatmare, but I did just have a dairymare! I dreamt that I went into Baskin Robbins and ordered a scoop
of mint chocolate chip and a scoop of rocky road (I used to love this
combo). Then I stopped and said to myself, hey, I can't eat this, it's
ice cream and I walked out."

As someone who avoids carbs, I can tell you I have had vivid dreams around gorging on freshly baked pizza and bread. Oh, the humanity.

I have had dreams in which I'm eating meat, and I'm concerned that I will have to start my veganism all over again.

Sounds like your body secretly desiring something. The sub-conscious is asking for something it thinks (knows) you'll just love. Dreams are ways to look into your inner thoughts; even as nightmares, so it makes one wonder what it is trying to tell you.
As for the bacon dream...
A. That is a real nightmare - what a tease!
B. Your brother wanted it for himself because it is just simply delicious!

I had a drean in which I fell off a building and died...and then as a ghost I wanted to talk to my friends but they couldn't hear me and I couldn't warn them about danger.

anyone who has these dreams should probably just kill themselves, or at the very least sterilize themselves.

I had a dream where people were screaming and trying to stop me from eating vegans, but they couldn't, they were weak and exhausted from a soy and wheatgrass diet. They were delicious! Unfortunately I woke up and had to settle for bacon-wrapped steak.

This is one of the most pathetic things I have ever read. Oh wait, I didn't realize it was a joke... that's right... no one could be so stupid that they actually have, let alone write about their "meatmares".
Give me a break.

I had a Vegimare once. I woke up and was surrounded in a field by lettuce and broccili, carrots ran the lengths of football fields, and were as tall as a tyrannasaurus rex, rows of cornstalks loomed like scarecrows over my hapless body as i walked and walked i came across cabbages the size of taxi cabs, brussels sprouts as big as my head, no matter how long i ran i couldnt escape the smell of avocadoes and just before i really woke up a tomatoe fell from the sky and squashed me.

I've been a vegetarian for a few years now and I don't think I've ever had this happen. The reason I say this is because I wouldn't freak out if I did happen to eat meat in my dream. It's a dream people.

I had a plantmare where I heard the screams of the defenseless fruits and vegetables that vegans were brutally murdering and devouring alive. Then I woke up, and secretly put bacon bits in my roommate's idiot girlfriend's hummus that she left in our fridge. The next afternoon, it was priceless to see the look of shock and horror as she realized she was eating bacon.
Vegans are dumb.

Although I abhor violence to living creatures ( 30 years a vegetarian ) I sometimes think how fitting it would be if a few of the flesh-eating apes were to see the food chain from the other end - if e.g someone were glue dog hair all over them and then send them to Korea or Guangzhou.
I wonder how quickly they would change their opinions on animal slaughter.( By the way, I have never had a meatmare, sounds like b.s. to me )

Your body was designed through eons of evolution to consume meat. Your unconscious mind knows this, and it wants meat. Your experience of this dream as a "nightmare" is straight up cognitive dissonance. I bet celibates have weird, scary sex dreams too. Repression is bad for you. Your body wants the food it was designed for, your mind wants peace...
It always seems to me that veggies/greenies/hippy types in general want to deny that WE ARE ANIMALS, just like the others. Your animal self wants meat, and sex, and violence, and dominance. Be what you are, you silly ape.

To each their own. Someone doesn't want to eat meat, fine by me. With that said, I don't really feel any impulse to take flack from people who, by claiming some superior morality, flatly refuse to take on the responsibility inherent with their place in the food chain. The food chain system only works as a system if all the parts of the system function, including the part at the top. This is the same objection I have to Peter Singer's essay on speciesism (if you haven't read it, it's worth the read).
Some animals are predators and some are prey. You're one or the other.

I've been a vegetarian for years and this has never happened to me. Maybe the people who have these dreams need more protein. Or a hobby.

Anyone who bothers to concern themselves about what other people eat or don't eat should probably be doing a little more introspection. Should you feel the need to justify to others one way or the other, that's your subconscious telling you you're not quite sure about your own choices. If you think messing with someone's choices is funny, I hope someone gets to make a decision for you that you deeply disagree with, then force it on you, and laugh.

The only meatmares I have are about whipping out Mr Happy at the local McDonald's and giving myself a good wienie wanking while enjoying a Happy Meal. Oh wait, that WOULD take the people's minds off what they are EATING.
The whole idea of meat mares is so stupid to be unbelievable. What's next? Are we going to worry about SAND AT THE BEACH? My God, give me a break. I say we feed the vegans to the poor.
