But, Is It Really Decaf?

65701

If you insist on drinking decaffeinated coffee, but you find yourself deeply suspicious of what you are really being served, you may be in the market for D-Caf Test Strips. Drop a strip into a sample of your drink to find out for certain whether you've been served decaf or been duped.

$9.95 for a pack of 20 strips at The Spoon Sisters.

I have to admit that as a server, I would sometimes serve decaf to those asking for regular (we rarely ran out of decaf but often ran out of regular), but I found it actually kind of cruel to serve regular to those asking for decaf. What if they were up all night because of me?? : )

I think that anybody pretentious enough to pull out one of those strips ought to be fair game for an ass whoopin'.

Unless you have some sort of life-threatening allergy to coffee, pulling out a caffeine testing strip and doing a little experiment in the cafe just makes you look like a tool. If it's that big of a deal, just stick to tea or water.

As one of those customers who has been up all night as a result of a mistake (honest mistake I'm sure, I'm not pointing fingers) I'd love to use this. I think I'd be way too embarrassed though.

whats next burger test strips. To think all these times you've been chewin' on sawdust burgers flavored with a little horsemeat mixed in for good measure.

it's also relatively expensive.

I agree with the first commenter. As a server, I'd give decaf to people who wanted regular if it was the only thing we had available, but some people can't have caffeine for health reasons so I would have felt too guilty doing the other way around!

Hate to jump in on this so late, but if a customer asks you for decaf, please -- serve decaf. Studies show that women who drink regular coffee early in pregnancy are increasing the risk of a miscarriage by 300%. Do you really want that on your conscience?
