Coming Up: New Amsterdam Market
The fledgling New Amsterdam Market has announced that it will hold a series of monthly, one-day markets beginning on Sunday, September 13, and continuing on October 25, November 22, and December 20 at the South Street Seaport.
Previous editions of the market have included local New York purveyors Saxelby Cheesemongers, Marlow and Sons, Dickson's Farmstand Meats, BoBo Poultry, and Hot Bread Kitchen.
The September market day coincides with New York City's Harbor Day celebration, honors the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's voyage to the New World. New Amsterdam Market and its diverse vendors will join the Harbor Day festivities by representing the agricultural bounty of the lands visited by Hudson in 1609. The market will feature seasonal produce, meats and dairy, wild-gathered greens, breads, cheeses and cured meats, fruits, wine, and cider from Northeast producers, with an emphasis on Hudson Valley sources.
