The Art of Tea

TeaChest Southern California tea connoisseurs, take note: The Fowler Museum at UCLA will present Steeped in History: The Art of Tea (August 16 to November 29), an exhibition on the history and culture of tea and its depiction in the arts in Asia, Europe, and colonial America (at right is a Japanese tea chest dating from the early 20th century).

Curated by Beatrice Hohenegger, author of Liquid Jade: The Story of Tea from East to West. the exhibition will feature rare Chinese ceramics and paintings, 18th- and 19th-century Japanese ceramics and prints, English and Colonial American paintings, vintage photographs and historical documents, and tea-serving paraphernalia and furniture from around the world. Someday I would love to get more into tea. When I have time to relax more I think it could become my beverage of choice. Alcohol isn't always needed and there's really nothing like relaxing to a nice hot cup of tea. Cheers!
