COCO: Chefs on Chefs
Another massive cookbook is due out from Phaidon in October 2009. Clocking in at 448 pages, Coco: 10 of the World's Greatest Chefs, 100 Emerging Culinary Stars is based upon Phaidon's 10x10 series presenting emerging artists in the fields of contemporary art, architecture, photography and graphic design.
Coco is broken down into 10 chapters, each of which is devoted to a "chef-curator" -- Ferran Adria (Spain), Mario Batali (US), Rene Redzepi (Denmark), Alice Waters (US), Jacky Yu (Hong Kong), Gordon Ramsay (UK), Ferguson Henderson (UK), Shannon Bennett (Australia), Alain Ducasse (France) and Yoshihiro Murata (Japan) -- and 10 emerging chefs (David Chang, Alison Vines-Rushing, April Bloomfield, and Chris Cosentino, among others) who they have chosen to recognize. Personal essays from the top chefs introduce each of their picks, along with recipes.
