A Day a Whey
Saxelby Cheesemongers will lead a trip to the Valley Shepherd Creamery in Long Valley, New Jersey, which produces farmstead cheese, yogurt, and gelato from the milk of East Fresian sheep. The day-long tour and picnic takes place on Sunday, June 3 (transportation leaves from Saxelby Cheesemongers, 120 Essex Street, at 11:00 a.m.). $75/person (register online at brownpapertickets.com).

Chocolate and Wine
The 92nd Street Y will present an evening of chocolate paired with wine, on Sunday, June 3, 7:30 p.m., at 1395 Lexington Avenue. $65/person (212.415.5500).

Japan Day
This Central Park celebration of all things Japanese will feature food tents serving Japanese cuisine, sweets, and tea. The event takes place on Sunday, June 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (after a morning 4-mile run) at Rumsey Playfield (SummerStage). More at japandaynyc.org.

A Taste of Appalachia
The Culinary Historians of New York will present a discussion by Mark F. Sohn, PhD, author of Appalachian Home Cooking: History, Culture, & Recipes, on the food and folklore of Appalachia, on Monday, June 4, 6:30 P.M., at Moore Brothers Wines, 2nd floor, 33 East 20th Street. $40/person.

Sip the Sparklers
Murray's Cheese will offer a course on sparkling wines from around the world, from Austria to Australia. The class, which includes a tasting of wines paired with cheese, will take place on Monday, June 4, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at  at 54 Bleecker Street. $75/person (reserve online).

Stinky Cheese
The Artisanal Premium Cheese Center wants you to get over your fear of smelly cheeses with a discussion and tasting of washed-rind cheeses, paired with wine, on Tuesday, June 5, 6:30 p.m., at 500 West 37th Street, 2nd Floor. $75/person (877.797.1200).
